Buttermilk Cornbread
















Ah Cornbread, how I love you! What is it about this sweet, yet savory slice of heaven, lathered up with melted buttered or drizzled with honey, that seems to make our stomachs growl and our appetites crave more and more?

Yes, maybe there is a little Southern charm in us all, especially when it comes to delicious, homemade cornbread. Perhaps it's that charm that led me to today's recipe. As if sweet, mouth-watering cornbread wasn't delicious enough, this recipe has one little "secret ingredient" that takes this traditional dish over the top. That's right, this is Buttermilk Cornbread!

Using our versatile Buttermilk Powder, we've created a light, fluffy, and oh so flavorful cornbread recipe that is sure to be a huge hit in your home. Heat up some of Grandpa's famous 5-Alarm Chili, we're baking up Buttermilk Cornbread!

Ingredients:
1 1/4 cups Honeyville Alta Artisan Flour
1 1/4 cups Honeyville Yellow Corn Meal
1/3 cup Sugar
2 Tbsp Baking Powder
1/2 tsp Baking Soda
1/2 tsp Himalayan Salt
3 Tbsp Honeyville Buttermilk Powder
1/2 cup Butter, melted
2 Eggs
1 cup Water

Directions:
Preheat Oven to 375 degrees.

In a large bowl combine flour, corn meal, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and buttermilk powder, and whisk together.

Next, add melted butter, eggs, and water, and mix together until a thick batter forms.

Pour batter into your lightly greased USA Pan Square Cake Pan (8x8 Pan).

Bake at 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Remove and let cool in pan for 10-15 minutes, then slice up and serve.
