Sausage and Cheese Waffles
















What's not to love about waffles, am I right? That rich, delicious flavor, combined with the hearty, dimpled shape and texture, makes every morning special. Think about it, how exciting was it to run down the stairs and find homemade waffles waiting for you each morning?!

While the kid in me has never disappeared, the adult in me is always searching for a delicious twist on those childhood classics. Today's recipe is just that! Not only does it combine all the taste and texture we love in waffles, it has a secret ingredient inside. Well, two secret ingredients actually. That's right, we've made waffles stuffed with sausage and cheese! Breakfast never looked so good!

Ingredients:
1 3/4 cups Honeyville Alta Artisan Flour
1 Tbsp Sugar
2 tsp Baking Powder
1 tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Himalayan Salt
2 1/2 Tbsp Honeyville Buttermilk Powder
3 Eggs, divided
1 cup Butter, melted
1 3/4 cup Water
1 cup Honeyville Freeze Dried Sausage
1 cup Honeyville Freeze Dried Cheddar Cheese

Directions:
Preheat your Waffle Iron.

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and buttermilk powder.

In a separate bowl with an electric hand mixer, beat 3 egg whites until soft peaks begin to form.

Add egg yolks, butter, and water together, along with dry ingredients, and mix together until a thin batter forms. Fold in egg whites until completely combined.

Add sausage and cheese and mix until fully incorporated.

Pour 2/3 cup batter on warm waffle iron and bake. Remove when completed, drizzle with syrup, and enjoy!
