Buttermilk Honey Wheat Bread

Now, imagine, if you will, the perfect homemade bread loaf. What would it look like? What would it have in it? Already our minds are turning back to our Mother's, Grandmother's, or Aunt's famous homemade bread. Is your mouth watering yet?

What if you combined the rich taste of freshly ground hard white wheat with sweet, savory honey and baked the whole thing up with a buttermilk goodness? Sounds like the perfect homemade loaf to you? We thought so to. Using our Buttermilk Powder, Raw Honey, and Hard White Wheat, we've created a masterpiece loaf that gives you all that and more. It's the loaf of all homemade loaves! Say hello to our Buttermilk Honey Wheat Bread!

Ingredients:
3 cups Honeyville Hard White Wheat, milled (makes around 6 cups wheat flour)
3 cups Hot Water
1/4 cup Butter, melted
1/2 cup Raw Honey
3 Tbsp SAF Yeast

Directions:
First, mill your wheat into flour. You should have around 6 cups of wheat flour.

Next, in your Bosch Universal Mixer or WonderMix Mixer, combine the following ingredients in this order: water, buttermilk powder, butter, honey, salt, milled wheat flour, yeast. Turn mixer on and, while ingredients are mixing, add alta artisan flour until dough begins to clean from the bowl. Knead in bowl for 4-5 minutes, remove, and place dough in a greased bowl. Cover and let rise for 30-40 minutes, or until dough is doubled in size.

Once dough has doubled, punch down, and remove from bowl.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Remove 1/3 of dough and, with remaining 2/3, shape into a loaf and place in your greased USA Pan Hearth Bread Pan. (You can shape 1/3 dough into a smaller loaf and place in a USA Pan Large Loaf Pan.)

Let dough rise for 20-30 minutes, slice top, and brush with melted butter. Place in 400 degree oven, knock temperature down to 350 degrees, and bake for 35-40 minutes. Remove when finished and let cool on a wire rack. Once cooled, slice and enjoy.
