Cardamom Sugar Cookies
















It's cookie time! What is it about Fall that gets us in the cookie-baking mood? Is it the cooler weather? Is it the anticipation of the upcoming Holiday season? Whatever the reason may be, one thing is for sure: Cookie time is here!

So how do you pick the perfect cookie recipe to kick off your baking season? What is the ideal, unique way to start of a 4-month baking frenzy? For us here at the Honeyville Kitchen, it's all about putting a twist on tradition. It's about taking a family favorite recipe, make a little tweak here and there, and creating an all new, mouth-watering creation.

Today's recipe is the perfect example of that. We took the traditional sugar cookie recipe we all love and cherish, and put a unique twist on it. What's the twist you say? Cardamom. That's right, with the addition of this rich, Eastern spice, we've baked up a cookie like you've never experienced before. And trust us, it's sure to leave your lips smacking and your tummy growling for more. Grab your best mixing spoon, it's time to create Cardamom Sugar Cookies!

Ingredients:
3 cups Honeyville Alta Artisan Flour
1 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
3/4 tsp Cardamom
1/2 tsp Himalayan Salt
1 cup Butter, softened
1 cup Sugar
1 Egg
1/4 cup Heavy Whipping Cream
1 tsp Vanilla

Topping:
1/2 cup Sugar
1/2 tsp Cardamom
Heavy Whipping Cream (for brushing)

Yields: 24 cookies

Directions:
First, mix your dry ingredients.

In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, cardamom, and salt, and whisk together until completely combined.

In a medium bowl, creamy butter and sugar together using an electric hand mixer. Add egg and mix until combined.

Combine dry ingredients, vanilla, and heavy whipping cream, and beat until a thick dough forms. Wrap dough and place in refrigerator to cool for at least 1 hour.

When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Remove dough from refrigerator and roll out on a floured surface.

Using a cooking cutter, cut out your cookies, then place on your USA Pan Baking Sheet, lined with parchment paper.

Brush the tops with heavy whipping cream then sprinkle with your sugar/cardamom mixture (mix this together in a bowl beforehand)

Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Remove and let cool on a wire rack before enjoying.
